We believe that encouraging young people to choose a career in construction is critical to building a skilled and capable workforce. According to a survey of National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) members, 64% say that availability and cost of workers is one of the most significant challenges builders will face this year.

Builders Mutual is now a Diamond Sponsor of the NAHB's HBCU Student Leadership Program, which works to give diverse, young adults an opportunity to gain the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to thrive in the construction industry. In April, we partnered with the Johnston County Building Industry Association and Be Pro, Be Proud, which focuses on leading a new generation of professionals to the workplace, on Discover Construction Day, which educated nearly 100 high school students across Johnston County, NC on construction safety and proper use of PPE. Our team attended Career Day at Hungary Creek Middle School in Glen Allen, VA, to talk to students about Risk Management and a career in construction. We are also proud to be a Legacy Partner of Skills USA North Carolina's State Conference, where more than 2,500 students from across the state showcase their skills in carpentry, framing, plumbing, and more in over 120 different events.
